INTERNATIONALIZATION AT HOME | Programmes for "Internationalization at Home" in Natural Sciences at Ruhr-Universität Bochum

Internationalization at Home is a sub-project of the university-wide project inSTUDIESplus, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). It pursues to foster contacts and cooperation among local and international students of Natural Sciences at Ruhr-Universität Bochum as well as international activities „at home“ in Natural Science disciplines. To this end, it establishes subject-specific programmes, such as the Buddy-Programme Natural.PALS and Tandem.MINT, a programme for Tandem Language Learning in the field of Natural Sciences and Engineering (STEM).

The Buddy-Programme Natural.PALS initiates subject-specific study-partnerships between local students and new international students in Natural Sciences at Ruhr-Universität Bochum. The local students support their international fellow students as peer-tutors in the initial phase of their studies. In this programme, all participants can gain intercultural experience.

The Tandem Language Learning Programme Tandem.MINT offers students of Natural Sciences and Engineering an individualised and subject-specific approach of learning a foreign language. Students can test and improve their language skills working together with a tandem-partner from a STEM discipline.
